Welcome to FYidoctors Grande Prairie
FYidoctors in Grande Prairie was originally established over 40 years ago as Northern Vision Center to provide optical services in the city of Grande Prairie and other communities in the northwestern part of the province of Alberta. Those communities include Fairview, Peace River, High Level, La Crete and High Prairie. Northern Vision Center was one of the founding practices of FYidoctors five years ago and adopted the new name in October, 2012.
FYidoctors is proud to be part of a network of independently owned and operated practices with over 100 locations across Canada. The primary focus of FYidoctors is our patient eye care using the most advanced diagnostic equipment available and the latest in lens technology called Internal Freeform. To ensure that our patients receive the best vision experience possible our offices also use iTerminals to obtain the most accurate measurements possible when fitting frames. FYidoctors Grande Prairie also has one of the largest selections of frames in Canada ensuring that there is a product for any patient and any budget.
Our clinic offers a variety of services including Specialty Contact Fitting, Refractive Surgery Consultation and Co-Management and we were the first in the Peace Area to offer Optomap Retinal Exams which provides the doctor with a detailed view of the eye and is digitally stored to compare results against future images to identify potential changes.
FYidoctors employs fourteen doctors which allows our patients the opportunity to book their appointments conveniently. We also are committed to ongoing education for our over 60 staff members with many who have earned or are in the process of earning their designation as a Contact Lens Fitter, Optician or Optometric Assistant.
FYidoctors is committed to the communities it serves – sponsorship of local sports teams, partnering with the Grande Prairie Regional College and the Hospital Foundation are but a few of the examples of its involvement in the community. Staff are also involved sitting as board members for the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Evergreen Park, the Community Foundation, Rotary and others. We also have introduced “Better Sight Better Grades” to all K – 6 schools which is a program whereby teachers can identify and refer children in need of eyewear but lack the financial resources to acquire the eyewear. In these cases FYidoctors is now able to help that child get the reading wear needed.
